In 1744, King Louis XV vowed to dedicate a prestigious building to Geneviève, the patron saint of Paris, a project entrusted to the architect Soufflot. In 1791, the monument was transformed into the National Panthéon, and Victor Hugo was buried there in 1885. Voltaire, Emile Zola, and Marie Curie would follow. From a church to a Republican Temple, the Panthéon has always remained a symbol, a sanctuary dedicated to great men.

Pont Alexandre III, 75008 Paris
Pont Alexandre III is a deck arch bridge that spans the Seine in Paris. It connects the Champs-Élysées quarter with those of the Invalides and Eiffel Tower. The bridge is widely regarded as the most ornate, extravagant bridge in Paris, with its Art Nouveau lamps, cherubs, nymphs and winged horses at both ends. It has been classified as a French monument historique since 1975.
The Beaux-Arts style bridge was built between 1896 and 1900. It is named after Tsar Alexander III of Russia, who had concluded the Franco-Russian Alliance in 1892.
Its construction is a marvel of 19th century engineering, consisting of a 6 metres (20 ft) high single span steel arch. The design, by architects Joseph Cassien-Bernard and Gaston Cousin, was constrained by the need to keep the bridge from obscuring the view of the Champs-Elysees or Invalides.
It was inaugurated in 1900 for the Exposition Universelle World's Fair in Paris.
