Before coming to Berkeley she was a GIS Specialist at the Yale University Library. She has masters’ degrees in both Geography and Library Science from Indiana University, and is interested in new mapping technologies, data accessibility, and Mongolia, among other things.

From the University of Denver website: Susan Schulten is professor and chair of the history department at the University of Denver, where she has taught since 1996. She is the author of A History of America in 100 Maps and several other books. Professor Schulten earned her B.A. from the University of California at Berkeley, and her doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania. Professor Schulten teaches courses on Lincoln, the Civil War and Reconstruction, America at the turn of the century, the history of American ideas and culture, the Great Depression, the Cold War, war and the presidency, and the methods and philosophy of history.
